RISK OF ALGORITHMIC BIAS IN CONTEMPORARY ATRIAL FIBRILLATION RESEARCH

چکیده
BackgroundIn recent years there is increasing attention to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in the diagnosis treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, AI approaches carry risk algorithmic bias from nonrepresentative training sets that may yield harm populations.ObjectiveEvaluate use descriptive data representing individual, social, structural variables research related AF.MethodsBibliometric analysis all papers yielded by a PubMed search using terms (atrial fibrillation) AND ((artificial intelligence) OR (machine learning)) (algorithm) (train*). Non-English were reviewed Google Translate. Full text was for papers.Results174 reviewed. Excluded 37 (21%) review articles, non-human studies, or did not describe AF diagnostics/treatment. Of remaining 137 papers, 78 (57%) described only rhythm status set; 48 (35%) additional individual level information (age/gender most common, comorbidities less common); 4 (3%) social determinants (e.g. tobacco, alcohol, home address); 2 (1.4%) (i.e. insurance status). Contemporary therapy of atrial fibrillation
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is estimated that by 2010, approximately 2.6 million people will be affected in USA; by 2050, that number may increase to 10 million patients. Generally, rate control alone is reasonable in some AF patients, especially asymptomatic patients. Restoration and maintenance of sinus rhythm (SR) may be achieved by means of cardioversion, drugs or/ and catheter ablation. Pharm...
متن کاملIndependent Effect of Digoxin in Preventing Atrial Fibrillation in High Risk Patients after CABG Surgery
Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common arrhythmias after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. AF can result in hemodynamic instability, thromboembolic events, increase the perioperative myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, stroke, more length of hospital stay (LOHS) and cost of treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the independent effect of...
متن کاملIncidence of Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery and Its Risk Factors in Shiraz, Iran during 2017-18
Background and Objectives: Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common disorientations after coronary artery bypass graft surgery and can affect the chance of survival in the first year after surgery. The present study aimed to determine the incidence of atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft surgery and its risk factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on...
متن کاملSymptoms In Atrial Fibrillation: A Contemporary Review And Future Directions.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia leading to hospital admissions in the United States. The majority of patients with AF report symptoms associated with this condition that can lead to a decrease in health related quality of life (HRQOL) and functional status. Therefore, along with reducing the risk of stroke and mortality, improvements in such symptoms are important ther...
متن کاملProtective effects of simvastatin on atrioventricular node during simulated experimental atrial fibrillation in vitro
Introduction: Recent evidence has indicated that statins can reduce the incidence of both supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias with various mechanisms. The primary goal of the present study was to determine direct protective role of simvastatin in modifying concealed conduction and the zone of concealment in a simulated model of atrial fibrillation (AF) in an isolated atrioventricula...
